Music Atlas SMusic Atlas S について
持っているアーティストを1組選ぶと、音楽性が近いアーティストの代表アルバムが9枚出ます。その中から1枚選ぶと、また9枚。これを繰り返して、知らない音楽へ辿っていくアプリです。
使い方
- 起点にするアーティストを、ライブラリの一覧から選びます。右端の頭文字をなぞると素早く移動できます
- 提案された9枚から、気になる1枚をタップすると先へ進みます
- ジャケットの下のドット（●●●○○）は、起点のアーティストとの音楽性の近さの目安です
- ▶ で30秒の試聴、＋ でライブラリに追加できます
- 画面下の履歴をタップすると、その地点まで戻って別の枝へ進めます
必要なもの
- iOS 17 以降の iPhone
- 音楽ライブラリへのアクセス許可（起点をライブラリから選ぶため、必須です）
- インターネット接続
よくある質問
- ジャケットが表示されず、頭文字だけのカードがあります
- そのアルバムが Apple Music の日本のカタログに無い場合に起きます。たとえば The Strokes の「Is This It」は配信されていません。また、Last.fm と Apple でアーティストの登録名が違う場合も取得できないことがあります。表示されないだけで、提案そのものは正しく機能しています。
- 持っているはずのアルバムが提案に出てきます
- ライブラリでは日本語表記、Last.fm ではローマ字表記になっているアーティストで起きます。「スーパーカー」と「Supercar」、「ナンバーガール」と「NUMBER GIRL」のように、同じアーティストでも文字が違うと同一と判定できません。逆に「持っているのに出てこない」よりは気づける失敗だと考え、この挙動のままにしています。
- ▶ や ＋ のボタンが出ないカードがあります
- そのアルバムを Apple Music のカタログで特定できなかった場合です。押しても何も起きないボタンを出さないよう、確認が取れたものにだけボタンを表示しています。
- Apple Music に加入していなくても使えますか
- 使えます。ライブラリからの起点選択、提案、30秒の試聴はすべて動きます。ライブラリへの追加だけは Apple Music の機能なので、未加入の場合は ＋ の代わりに ↗ が出て、購入できる画面へ移動します。
- 辿った履歴は保存されますか
- 保存されません。アプリを終了すると消え、次に開くとまっさらな状態から始まります。毎回ちがう道を辿ってほしいので、あえてそうしています。
- 「このアーティストからは進めない」と表示されます
- そのアーティストの情報が Last.fm に無いか、音楽性が近いアーティストの作品をすべて持っている場合です。画面の案内から前の地点に戻って、別の枝へ進んでください。
- 読み込みが終わらない、接続エラーが出ます
- 通信の状態をご確認のうえ、再試行してください。すでに表示されているカードと履歴は消えません。
- ジャケットを表示したくありません
- アーティスト選択画面の右上、歯車のボタンから設定を開き、「Show artwork」をオフにしてください。アプリ全体のジャケットが頭文字だけの表示に変わります。オフの間はジャケットの取得も行いません。

About Music Atlas S
Pick one artist from your own library, and the App shows nine albums by musically similar artists. Choose one, and nine more appear. Keep going, and you travel outward into music you have never heard.
How to use it
- Choose a starting artist from your library. Drag along the index on the right edge to move quickly
- Tap any of the nine suggestions to travel to it
- The dots under each cover (●●●○○) indicate how close that artist is to your starting point
- ▶ plays a 30-second preview, and + adds the album to your library
- Tap the trail at the bottom to return to an earlier point and branch off elsewhere
Requirements
- iPhone running iOS 17 or later
- Permission to access your music library (required, since journeys start from it)
- An internet connection
Frequently asked questions
- Some cards show only a letter instead of a cover
- This happens when the album is not in the Apple Music catalog for your region, or when Last.fm and Apple list the artist under different names. Only the image is missing; the suggestion itself is working as intended.
- An album I already own appears as a suggestion
- This happens when your library and Last.fm spell an artist differently, for example “スーパーカー” and “Supercar”. The App cannot tell that the two names refer to the same artist. We prefer this over the opposite failure, where an album quietly disappears without you noticing.
- Some cards have no ▶ or + button
- The App could not identify that album in the Apple Music catalog. Buttons appear only for albums it has confirmed, so that you never press one that does nothing.
- Can I use the App without an Apple Music subscription?
- Yes. Choosing a starting artist, receiving suggestions, and playing 30-second previews all work. Only adding to your library requires a subscription; without one, ↗ appears instead of + and takes you to a screen where the album can be purchased.
- Is my journey saved?
- No. It is discarded when the App closes, and the next launch starts fresh. This is deliberate — every journey should be able to take a different path.
- It says the journey cannot continue from this artist
- Either Last.fm has no information for that artist, or you already own the work of every similar artist it found. Use the link on screen to step back and branch off elsewhere.
- Loading never finishes, or I see a connection error
- Check your connection and tap retry. Cards and trail already on screen are kept.
- I would rather not see album covers
- Open Settings from the gear button at the top right of the artist screen and turn off “Show artwork”. Covers throughout the App are replaced with initials, and no artwork is requested while it is off.
